Year of the Tiger
The Old Wood lies to the East of Haarlem, a vast untracked forest that is one of the few direct paths to the Feywild remaining in the world. To the North the forest blends into the rugged lower hills of the Shearneth Mountains. North of that lies the remnants of the Shearneth Empire. East of the Old Wood is a series of ancient ruins and crumbling cities, mostly occupied by Yuan Ti. These cities once comprised a great Eladrin empire, but that was long ago. Now a truly civilized threshold city called Breakwall is the last barrier keeping the hordes from destroying the Old Wood. To the South the Old Wood ends abruptly as it comes in contact with the Great Lake Desert.
The Old Wood is primarily occupied by Elves, led by a woman known only as the Forest Princess. They are very unfriendly when it comes to outsiders, and force even the largest caravans traveling the Merchant Road to pay a toll. They do provide significant assistance to Breakwall, however, and often send excursions deep into enemy territory in order to break up the enemy forces and distract them from the eternal siege.
